Ingredients
Scale
- 1 medium cucumber, thinly sliced
- 4 cups cold filtered water (or clean tap water)
Optional Add-ins:
- 1 lemon or lime, sliced
- A handful of fresh mint or basil leaves
- ½ cup strawberries or blueberries, halved
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, sliced
- 1 tbsp honey or stevia (optional)
Instructions
Prepare the Ingredients:
- Wash the cucumber and any optional fruits or herbs thoroughly.
- Thinly slice the cucumber (peel if desired for a milder taste).
- Slice citrus fruits, tear or muddle herbs, and slice or lightly crush berries.
Assemble:
- In a large pitcher or jug, add the cucumber slices and any desired optional ingredients.
- Pour in 4 cups of cold water.
- Stir gently to combine.
Infuse:
- Let the mixture infuse in the refrigerator for at least 2–4 hours for optimal flavor.
- For a light flavor, 30 minutes may suffice; for a bold infusion, let sit overnight.
Serve:
- Pour over ice and garnish with additional cucumber slices or herbs.
- Store leftovers in the fridge and consume within 2–3 days for best quality.
Notes
- Use organic cucumbers when possible to avoid peeling.
- For stronger flavor, use more cucumber or muddle the ingredients before adding water.
- Avoid over-infusing (past 24 hours), as the cucumber can become bitter.
- Try variations like cucumber-mint, cucumber-lemon-lime, or cucumber-ginger for added complexity.
